I recently started to finish up some of the games I didn't have time to finish before. I was installing some packaged games on my hdd to be sure they worked before attempting to convert to ISO. I made the Iso and the game loaded fine as well. I then deleted the game from hdd and tried the iso. I initially thought that the edat may have been removed when I uninstalled from hdd. I ftp'ed the complete game back to hdd and didn't install a crack pkg so icon was missing from xmb. I then launched the ISO and the game worked flawlessly. Then I deleted everything from hdd except for necessary files for crack package thinking that it maybe was just using those files and the rest is getting from Iso. I then reinstalled the full game folder to hdd from ftp minus crack package so nothing on xmb. I then made an iso from crack package files plus c00 folder. This can be useful because there is no clutter on xmb and you can launch the game from server. I am trying to keep everything there because all my ps3s can access them. The downside is that the game still needs to be installed on hdd and can simply be launched from there. So really the advantages are only less clutter and can be accessed from websrv. The reason why psn-games/apps work or not work as iso/jb-format without installed game data is pretty simple:Įach game (=EBOOT.BIN) has paths in it to refer to its data for eg grafics, sounds, maps etc. These paths can be.ġ) absolute paths like for example " /dev_hdd0/game/NPEA12345/USRDIR/grafic/lev1_graf.dat"Ģ) relative paths like for example ". Grafic/lev1_graf.dat" (relative means: relative to the directory where EBOOT.BIN exists.
